Year 13: A2 Media Coursework
For A2 media, I had to create either a film trailer, music video or a documentry to which I chose the film trailer; and for the two preliminary tasks, a front cover of a magazine and a poster to advertise the film. I chose a romantic genre, naming the film 'Dear Lucy' as looking at films such as 'Dear John', 'The Notebook' and 'One Day' appealed to me the most.
From a year of experience using the software and programmes, I was a lot more organised for this piece and so the coursework was a lot better quality, in which I ended up getting graded for the coursework an A.
We yet again used the Nikon but this time to film scenes as well as taking pictures.
I also done the models hair, make-up and costume design for the photo shoot this time in comparison to last years photo shoot where by I let the models choose make-up and outfits for the magazine shoot.

For the preliminary task I researched and compared mine to real media magazines to get a better quality look for the magazine, picking out such things as a simple layout and consistent colour scheme to make it look less messy and less complicated, only using one picture to keep the simple theme within the piece.
This is the finished product of my preliminary task - magazine front cover:
The editing software for the front cover was definately easier to use as I had past experience and I planned the task better than I did before so I knew what I wanted it exactly to look like.
As you can see, I simply blended these three pictures and removed the background from the main picture so it was effectively professional
This was the end product:
This is my practice picture before I started using the original picture in the poster above
The editing side of the coursework is what I most excelled in within the last year of the media course and enjoyed creating the three pieces of coursework :)

Year 12: AS Media Coursework
I started media studies when entering Ruislip High School Sixth Form. Media appealed to me as I have been interested to how digital media works and wanted to find out the different processes and departments the world of media had from behind the scenes set up to on show television. During AS level media I had no experience with any media software in which I had to use for my coursework. I had to create a music magazine for AS coursework; including a front page, contents page and double page spread, using a programme called InDesign which I had never used before and so I had to watch tutorials on how to use the programme.

I then had to edit the pictures I wanted to use on Photoshop; which I had little experience with and so I had to also watch tutorials on which tools to use in the programme.

During the process of creating my magazine, I organised a photoshoot for good quality, proffessional pictures to make my magazine look similar to real media magazines which I looked at for my research and planning, so I could get an idea of the layout and genre of the magazine
